Manchester United are keen on signing Facundo Medina of RC Lens. The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to offer £11M to secure the services of the Argentine International. The Centre Back has established himself in the first-team setup, playing in 11 of their 18 matches in Ligue 1 this season.
According to the reports, Manchester United are hoping to conclude the deal this month and are prepared to loan him back to the Ligue 1 side for the rest of the season. A couple of departures from the center back department in Manchester United are expected to be happen, with Marcos Rojo set to move to Boca Juniors and Phil Jones reportedly placed in the transfer list.
Manchester United are yet to find a good partner for Harry Maguire. With Lindelof being inconsistent and Bailly failing to stay fit throughout the season, it is clear that Manchester United will be keeping their eyes open when a good defender is available.
The River Plate academy graduate was signed by RC Lens from Argentine Primera Division side Talleres at the start of this season for £5M. Due to his impressive performances in Ligue 1, he was called up to the national side and made his debut last year.
The 21-year-old defender is often compared with fellow International Marcos Rojo who is on his way out of Manchester United, for the aggressive nature of his game and his ability to play both as a center back and left-back. Another important reason why many clubs are interested in Medina is because of the temperament and maturity he is showing on the pitch which is rare for a player of his age.
Facundo Medina is just one among several center-backs, Manchester United are interested-in the fact that he is left-footed could have weighed-in as an advantage. Like every young footballer, Medina has a few negatives too. He has been injured quite a few times in the last couple of seasons. Manchester United would be hoping that he puts his injury record behind soon. The only notable negative on the pitch is that Medina commits a lot of silly fouls and gets booked frequently.
