Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 760th goal of his career in the 2-0 win in the Supercopa Italia final against Napoli. By this, he has surpassed the all-time goalscoring record of Austro-Czech striker Josep Bican’s total of 759.
But the Czech Republic FA has stated that Josep Bican has scored 821 goals in his whole footballing career, following a review. The tweet says that ” the History and statistics committee of the Czech Republic FA counted all the goals scored by the legendary Josef Bican and we can declare he scored 821 goals in official matches,”. Also, they have added “Goals from matches in the first and second leagues, national cups, the Central European (International) Cup and national team selections are included”. On the contrary, friendly matches are not included in the statistics, except for the national team.
“It can be stated with full seriousness that this is a number that corresponds to the current state of the possibility of verifying all data, so it is the most accurate number possible.” Told the head of the Czech Republic FA.
The Portuguese Maestro has been absolute finesse with his goal-scoring ability for all the clubs he has played so far. Ronaldo scored 450 goals for Real Madrid, which makes him the highest scorer of the club also an iconic figure for the Los Blancos. Also, he has scored five goals for Sporting Lisbon, 118 for Manchester United, 85 for Juventus and 102 for Portugal. Hence there is little debate over Ronaldo’s tally.
Last month Barcelona’s Messi surpassed Pele’s recognized total of 643 goals for a single club, but Santos swiftly countered saying that the three-time World Cup winner racked up 1,091 goals for them including those in friendlies.
Pele is credited with between 757 and 767 goals in competitive matches over his career, which included 92 Brazil internationals and two seasons with the New York Cosmos.
Lionel Messi is the only remaining player in the modern era who can surpass these tallies of goals. Currently, the 33-year-old Argentine Maestro is all-time leading goal scorer for both his club and Country. He has 719 goals under his belt and he can certainly challenge these players with his amazing goal-scoring capability.
But as of now among the fans, Cristiano has already surpassed the record of the Great Josep Bican. Even if not he will be considered as one of the best strikers to be played ever.
He is inching closer to his 36th birthday but the pace by which is scoring the goals for Juventus has been remarkably appreciable. In this scenario, any football will back Cristiano to score another 61 goals before he puts a full stop to his prominent & paramount career.
